OUR VALUES

DeBusk Foundation, continuing the work of Manuel and Edith DeBusk, makes grants annually to educational organizations for the operation of our signature DECATS summer programs for gifted elementary and middle school students in Dallas, Houston, and Austin.

DeBusk Foundation will positively impact the lives of gifted youth at a critical period of development through DECATS (DeBusk Enrichment Center for Academically Talented Scholars) summer programs, which provide a challenging curriculum that bolsters critical and creative thinking, self-awareness, social and emotional growth, leadership, social, moral and ethical values, and servant leadership.

The purpose of DECATS (DeBusk Enrichment Center for Academically Talented Scholars) is to provide life-changing enrichment to academically gifted and talented students in third through 8th grade.  DECATS offers a unique opportunity for high-ability students to participate in a three-week summer adventure of challenging and enriching coursework, nurturing the whole learner and fostering the leaders of tomorrow.  The overriding purpose of the program is to identify and challenge young students at a critical period in their lives, focusing on core values such as critical and creative thinking, self-awareness and advocacy, social and emotional growth and a strong emphasis on servant leadership.
